Thank you

I have encountered a problem with Internet Explorer 9 on some Windows 7 vDesktops. The environment is a vSphere 5.0 envrionment and we are using View 5.0.
Whenever flash is enabled, Internet Explorer will hang whenever it tries to load a web page. However, with flash disabled IE runs just fine. The main problem with this is that the environment in which these desktops are being used flash is necessary for a specific website and the site is only compatible with IE so using Firefox or Chrome is not an option.
Has anyone run into this particular issue?
Cheers!
If you google the subject you will find a KB article that says that is the solution (although I can’t find it right now). I don’t know about you … but rebooting is not a solution for me.
So I opened a ticket with Vmware Support and after many calls the engineer decided to open a ticket with Teradichi support. We are still waiting on the call back L However in the middle of the call the engineer directed me to KB #1029706 which shows the supported Video drivers in view.
The KB article says for build 5.1.2 build 928164 it is Version 11.7.20.0. However my vm’s shows 11.9.1.0 After discussing we have removed the agent, rebooted, removed tools, rebooted and then re-installed the tools and the same version came in. So what my question is can you check your Windows XP builds? Can you tell me what video driver your view desktops are using?
FYI ESXi version 5.1.0 914609
Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Hello,
I have question for VMware View users. I have implemented View 4.5 (win7 x64) at customer site and they using for logon chip card with certificate. The issue is that logon process is to long. It take about 30-45 seconds and during this is on whole black screen in the middle small block with rotating waiting circle and in the upper left corner button with logon option.. I have tried using PCoIP GPO settings turn down Initial size of picture and problem stay.. When I have tried logon using username/password logon process is finnished with 5-10 secs..
I think taht problem is in communication logon process with certificate in smart card.. Am I wrong? Have you anybody something which could help me?
many thx

Say I wanted to change the max concurrent view composer operations to like 100, WOULD it be possible as long as I have the resources to handle all these concurrent operations? Would Composer crash?
Hi team,
I am running vmware view 5.1.2. I would like to configure SSO that we can avoid logging in to the desktops twice. But i am really confused here in configuring the SSO as there are no official documents for this.can some one help me on this
2.Do we have to install and configure the SSO on the remote machine where we have installed vmware view client ?
or this sso should be installed on the individual desktops ?
3.Can we use vmware sso which comes with vcenter 5.1 for this set up?
any help would be appreciated
regards,
shan
Hi,
Persona managenet works fine here in my installation but we need to enable "RoamLocalSettings" because an Application writes to %appdata%/local/application. To get this path included in the roaming Profile, we need to enable "RoamLocalSettings" in the GPO.
Without "RoamLocalSettings" persona Management works like expected with a minimum logoff time.
Enabling "RoamLocalSettings" in the GPO, the logoff time increases to several minutes.
The "local" folder is around 25 MB so this can't be the reason. After several Minutes the roaming profiles is written correct to the share.
No AV Software, Windows 7 SP1 64 bit, Firefox, LibreOffice, SAP GUI ...
View Agent 5.1.2 x64
Anyone has seen this problem before ?

I am unable to authenticate using a smartcard from the view client.
Error Log 1 (View server):
Unable to extract User Principal Name: Unknown type 22, remaining......

Error instantiating PAEContext for : com.vmware.vdi.ob.lib.b: Failed to retrieve user information for the users with given upns: Unable to obtain information from the Active Directory - ErrorCode 1
Error Log 2 (View server):

Failed to convert SID
Unable to obtain user information from the Active Directory
Error instantiating PAEContext for : com.vmware.vdi.ob.lib.b: Failed to retrieve user information for the users with given upns: Unable to obtain information from the Active Directory - ErrorCode 1
The logs show the certificate being read by the view server and all the detials of CRLs etc but it appears unable to extract the UPN. Where does it resolve it from?
I read in the admin guide that if the Root CA is in another domain then the user must have the Subject Alt Name of the Root CA cert set as this UPN of their local domain account. I do not understand why this is as the UPN is a vital attribute for many other software products and is usually in the format user@company.com. The error logs above would suggest that the UPN from the user cert can not be decoded and therefore can not be used to resolve the user from the Active Directory.
In the event log on the view server the first event is an informational one stating "No SubjectAlternativeName found" and then the next event is of the type warning and is "Failed to convert SID (null)". Why is the first message Informational when it appears to be part of the problem?
Are there any special rights required by the ws_admin server to convert the SID, or is it because it uses the Subject Alt Name whch should be the user UPN?
Thoroughly confused!
Thanks
Hi,
I have a couple of questions regarding View I hope someone wouldnt mind answering.
For VMware View - Do I need to join the Physical Host to the Domain or can I get with that? If I have to join the host to the domain, what implications would that have on my other servers, for instance my media server which is in a workgroup and my freenas server?
Thanks for your time.
Karl
I'm trying to understand how this works and if my configuration is incorrect.
I created a pool of linked-clones using persistent disk of 8GB and I have checked "Redirect Windows profile to a persistent disk" However, I'm also using persona management to redirect profiles to a network share. My question is should I have profiles redirected using persona to a network share and have "Do not redirect windows profiles" checked on the persistent disk or is my current setup correct?
Thanks
Hi,
If a user logs off from a view desktop and immediately logs back on (before composer has has chance to refresh and return it to the pool - around 2-3mins), they are not allocated a new desktop and are instead given the error 'Unable to launch from Pool <pool> for user <user> : machine is not ready to accept conections.'
I'd like to compare with others to get a sense if we should work on our USB speed or if we should just accept what we see.
We are using Tera2 Zero Clients with Vmare View 5.1, Windows 7 VM.
Transfering files from a USB key (pluggled in the zero client) to any destination accssible by the VM yields transfer rates around 1.3 MBs
The 1.3MB is the Windows 7 transfer rate displayed by Windows Explorer when I drag a file to or from a USB key plugged into a Tera2 client.
It seems quite low when compared to 25mbs or 3MBs mentioned on the teradici documentation for Tera2 but I am not sure if those numbers are the final Windows number or just some "calculated" maximums.
Could any of you guys with Tera2 clients and View tell what kind of tranfer rate you get when you copy files from a USB key (in the zero client) to the VM ? (I want the rate displayed by Windows explorer)
I suspect we're not setup right but would like to have real life comparaisons points to start from.
Thanks
(BTW : the network is not the limitation + PCOIP Bandwith limit is unlimited and + EHCI is set to on in the zero).

I currently have a laptop with the lid shut hooked into its docking station, it has 2 external monitors connected by separate DVI ports through the docking station which are configured for a dual monitor set up. Locally on the laptop it works fine but when running the VMview Client (v5) the virtual session only recognizes one monitor. The laptop model is a Dell Latitude E6530 and the docking station is Dell. PRO2X. Our typical set up is running the virtual desktops through Wyse zero clients which the dual monitor setup works fine. But with the laptop and docking station, through Windows Display options, it does not recognize an additional monitor connected. Does anybody know what I need to do to get this to work? When I configured the dedicated machine through VMware View Admin (v5.1) I chose to allow up to 2 monitors.
Does View support DPM? I can't find much detail on this subject. You would think DPM is an ideal fit for a View environment...?
Hi guys,
I'm trying to install a pool with windows 8 64bit but I have a problem, if I install my vmware tools the video driver works fine, but when I install the vmware view agent this install again a video driver and then the driver stop of works, know you if can I install the agent without the video driver.
thanks for your time
I am attempting to import a certificate into VMware View on the security server.
I've attempted to use both a .crt and a .p7b. The .crt was exported a a .p7b since Register.com doesn't include it in a Tomcat certificate purchase. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Commands and error messages:

Hi everybody!
I've got some trouble connecting to Esxi with vmware view PCoIP client. In my debug log i found these errors:
[wswc_http] Broker request brokerConnect started
[wswc_http] WinHttp ErrorCode = 10045
[wswc_http] Broker request brokerConnect FAILED, error: Unable to send request to viewconnserver.dots.detoc.local/broker/xml (viewconnserver.dots.detoc.local) with error 10045, userError: Network error. Contact your network administrator.
My host OS is Windows 7 32 bit, Vmware view client version is 5.2.1 build-937772
I've tried to google some information about this problem, but found nothing.
If someone had this error i will appreciate your help.
Not sure if anyone has seen this warning in windows but i'm getting "The winlogon notification subscriber <VMWVvpsvc> is taking long time to handle the notification event (Logon)." And my client is taking almost 3 to 5mins to logon. I haven't tried this with and without persistent disk and redirection of the profile using persona. I haven't tried it with just persistent disk and no redirection. Anyone have any ideas what would be causing this.
