Hello:
We are building a new Win10 1803 master image for our linked clone and full clone pools. We started with the linked clone pool. Everything is working good there. Next I cloned the master image VM from the linked clone pool, to another VM, and converted it to a template to use for the full clone pool. If I modify this VM in any way, such as adjust memory for the VM in vCenter or even boot up the VM, the result is a customization error when it tries to provision the full clones.
The only way it avoids this error is if I clone the master image VM from our linked clone pool directly to another VM, and don't touch it but simply convert it to a template. While this works, we need to modify the template slightly for the full clones. I've been trying to find a solution but so far no idea why this would come up when simply making a clone of a VM. I'm hoping others have seen this error and found a fix. Or, are you creating individual images for your linked and full clone pools? I was hoping to simply take a clone of it so that it's identical.
Thanks in advance for the help and feedback.

Hi all,
I have a question about a specific View event: BROKER_POOL_OVERLOADED. This message appears every day on different VM's on all of our Connection servers and all pools.
29-07: End of day, user logoff VM
30-07: User try to logon and receive message: 'The assigned desktop source for this desktop is currently not available'. Following message is in the Event database: BROKER_POOL_OVERLOADED:
"Unable to launch from Pool <poolname> for user <domain>\<user>: All responding machines are currently in use"
The user tries to logon several times, but don't succeeded. After a Reset-VM it's possible to logon again. Does anyone know what 'BROKER_POOL_OVERLOADED' exactly means and is it possible to relate this to a specific logfile?
Client OS: Windows 7 SP1 64-bit

Thanks in advance!
In troubleshooting another issue, we have found that recently the Skype Virtualization pack for View always starts in fallback mode. I also see this event in the application log. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Hi
We like to upgrade the images from LTSB to LTSC1809
First we have to find out, that upgrade only works without any snapshots on the master image vm. If there are any, the upgrade will fail.
Now we have a second problem, after upgrade sometimes the PERSONA profile won't load. sometimes it works, sometimes not. about 50%
with a freshly installed LTSC1809 image with nearly the same apps, the problem does not exist.
i can't see any hints in the logfiles or the eventlog why he could not load the profile
Anyone any idea

Dear all,
We are having troubles including the Adobe Reader DC (18.011.20040) into our Golden Image.
We install it normally (as local admin) on the golden image and there everything is working fine - but when we create linked-clones (floating) out of the golden image the following problems occur:
1) When you click on the Windows Startbutton and on Acrobat Reader DC it re-configures the application for 10 sec and then starts the DC (when you start it from the Desktop Icon it is fine)
2) The Preview Pane is not working at all - it just give an internal error field from Adobe Reader.
3) Internet Explorer occasionally does not show PDFs anymore - instead tries to download it and does not succeed. And embedded Pdfs are opened up in a new windows.
We have applied these GPO Settings via Group Policy:
SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\FeatureLockDown - bProtectedMode - REG_DWORD - 0x0 (0)
SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\FeatureLockDown - bUpdater - REG_SZ - 00000000
SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Adobe ARM\Legacy\Reader\{AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-7B44-AC0F074E4100} - Mode - REG_DWORD - 0x0 (0)
And this via UEM:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\AdobeViewer]
"EULA"="1"
Is there anything I am missing? We tried to App Volume it, same behavior.
Thank you for your help.
Shortly after I upgraded the domain controllers in our environment from 2003 to 2012 R2 our Floating desktop pool in View 6.2.2 started having problems. When machines are being deployed they for some reason are not being provisioned correctly and they are not joining the domain. A random user will login to View but be unable to login to the domain from their View desktops. They'll receive a message about not having a trust with the domain. On the domain controller I'm seeing multiple Errors with Event ID 2974 coming from ActiveDirectory_DomainService.
Here are some examples:

It seems to effect machines randomly, not all machines in the pool are effected. I'll see 20 users login without an issue before it starts to occur.
So far I've tried disabling "Allow reuse of pre-existing computer accounts" but that does not seem to have helped at all.
I'm also seeing Event ID's 1226:

I'm not sure what needs to be changed in order to resolve this issue. I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
We have a microfiche device that in order for the software on the virtual desktop to identify it, the device name must be a certain string. With RTAV, that device name appears as some generic VMware RTAV Webcamera or something.
How can I specify in registry or gpo that I want this specific pid\vid to pass through with USB redirection instead of RTAV?
Hi,
Has anyone encountered reverse CAPS LOCK issue? Meaning CAPS LOCK is on but you type in small caps.
I have turned off the AutoCorrect feature in MS Office 2003 but it is not helping. Some users, like data entry, are using CAPS most of the time and these are the users that will encounter this issue.
System:
ESX 3.0.1 with latest patches

Thanks for the help.

Recently moved my Composer server from a 2008R2 server to a 2016 server and Recompose functions seem to be working. However in my test pool i have 3 machines that get recomposed and one of them comes up as AVAILABLE and the others still say PROVISIONED. When I look at the VM's in the Web client the VM's are powered off. If I power them on the process continues just fine and they both end up as available in the end. Any Idea what might be causing the VM's to not complete? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Like the title says, printer redirection works but the redirected printer defaults to using the UPD driver, not the NPD driver. I have tested with policy, printerredirection admx, setting enable to map the NPD with fallback to UPD - running the latest agent and client, ver. 7.7 and 4.4. Anybody run into this and get it resolved, thanks@
Since we started using Horizon view I've had more than one desktop pool so the client has always stayed up in the background.
I recently went down to one pool and now, even though "Hide the client after connection" is NOT checked, when I connect to my single desktop pool the client disappears.
Is this normal? Is there a way to get the client to stay up even with a single pool?
I ask because I recently moved my VDI from one vcenter to another and one pool to another, which is unsupported, but worked fine, so I'm not sure whether this is normal behavior or not.
We have recently created a pool of linked clone Windows 10 VMs. Our original pool of Windows 7 VMs have no issues whatsoever. The Windows 10 pool was created with the exact same settings as the Windows 7 ones.
However, when we try to log into them with our Dell WYSE Zero Clients we get a black screen on both monitors then it disconnects after 10 seconds. If we just have one monitor connected it works perfectly.
We're also having issues with people logging in with a single monitor and the desktop just flashes over and over again. Reboot usually fixes, but the problem reappears later.
Things I've tried:
I've tried updating the VGA driver to the one that's in the agent directory but it's exactly the same version.
I'm at a complete loss as to what's happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
VMWare support is not helping whatsoever.
EDIT: Logging in with Horizon Client in Windows has the same effect as the Zero Clients.
Hi,
I experiment a strange issue regarding the screen resolution when I connect to a Windows 10 desktop through the Horizon MacOS client.
I open the app and log in to the Connection Server. I click to a pool to access a desktop. The session automatically starts in full screen mode.
The native resolution of the device is 1680x1050 pixels but the Windows 10 desktop stays in 800x600 pixels. It doesn't scale the desktop screen.
If I change the view on MacOS (swipe desktop to left or right) and I come back to the session, the Windows 10 desktop refreshes the screen and then adapts the resolution to the native of the device.
I use vGPU on NVIDIA Tesla M10 and it seems this issue arrives more often with this configuration.
Any of you have encountered that too?
Technical information:
Server: Horizon View 7.4.0
Provisioning: Instant Clones
Client: Horizon Client 4.8.0
Host OS: MacOS 10.13.4
Guest OS: Windows 10 (1709)
Thank you for your response.
Kind regards.
Steve
Hello. I am trying to use the PowerShell script to install UAG 3.2. This will be a huge time saver over the OVF if I can get past the last remaining issue. When I configure the ini file with a single IPV4 address, the appliance installs, but grabs a DHCP address instead. I can see the OVF properties is missing the STATICV4 setting that is required when building the appliance using the GUI OVF installation. Is there an ini file setting to set STATICV4 during the installation?
Thank you.
I am looking at setting up a USB webcam on our Teradici Zero client T2 to use with Skype.
I have tried installing the horizon client v7.5.1/7.4.0/7.3.1 but no luck, all report back with Fallback Mode.
Is the Virtualization Pack compatible with Teradici or am I missing something?
Hi guys.
I have customer running View 5.3 and it's end of life. I'm hoping that someone can provide some insight.
So, what changed?
I had to manually remove 2 VDIs from view the other day. I attempted to use the ViewDBChk tool over at VMWare Labs.
- I was getting Java errors when running ViewDBChk, so I installed Java on the Connection server in an attempt to get it running.
- I also attempted to install certificates from the VC server in the trusted root domain store on the Connection server, as I thought it could have been related to it not working.
- I realized that ViewDBChk was not supported in 5.3, and uninstalled Java on the Connection server.
- I manually removed the VDIs, but neglected to remove them from the Composer DB yesterday. Everything was working as of 5PM last night.
Today, nobody can log in to their view desktops. They are getting a connection time out or an HTTP 404 error - both externally and internally.
Today, I have removed the 2 VDIs from the Composer DB by following this article: VMware Knowledge Base.
I'm still having issues, and I'm unsure what direction to take.
I'm getting the java.lang error after logging in to View Admin and when I attempt to edit the only pool the customer has. One of the VDIs is stuck in a provisioning state, but it was working 24 hours ago. The user on that VDI has had this desktop for a little over a month with no issues.
I've found a lot of references to the "java.lang.NullPointerException", but nothing I have tried seems to help. What is this error and how can I fix it? It seems very general and could apply to a lot of things. The only tip is that I get it when logging in to View admin and when editing the VDI Pool.
Lastly, when attempting to verify server information in View Admin > View Configuration > Servers > vCenter Servers > Edit - I get an error stating: "Server Error - There was an error identifying the validity of the server". Not sure if this is related, but it's believed to have been working previously.
