Since we currently do not have a fault-tolerant/load-balancing hardware solution, are there any known issues or gotchas with using MS's NLB to load-balance our internal connection brokers and/or our security servers?

I dont see this as a client option in the latest GPO bundle VMware-Horizon-View-Extras-Bundle-3.4.0-2769709.zip, ony an agent option.

We want RTAV on in the pool but off for certain clients. How can we accomplsh this? Enabling the policies "Exclude all devices" and disabling the policies "Allow Audio Input Devices, and Allow Audio Output Devices" is not having the desired effect. How else can we accomplish this?

We are doing a pilot to our customer for 50 VDI clients. Client device is WinXP SP3/Win7 PC. Guest OS is Win7 with PCoIP protocol . The issue is related to audio redirection when using headsets. In brief, customer uses a softphone and need to have audio outs in both the headset and pc speaker, so that the operator hear the phone ring even without the headset worn . This behavior is working using the physical pc with its own o.s., but with virtual desktop, audio is redirect only to one of two channels (or headset or pc speaker).

The headset is correctly seen by host and guest o.s. and the issue is not strictly related to softphone software, but in general, to redirect audio output to two channels (headphone and pc speaker) at the same time.

The environment is:

Host o.s. WinXP SP3 or Win7

Guest o.s. Win7

Horizon infrastructure (connection srv, composer, agent, client 6.0.0)

Horizon Feature Pack and Teradici audio driver

USB headset

Does anyone have any idea to solve the problem ?

Why does a MAC always have to be so difficult?  Trying to setup Canon Scanner on macbook and everything looks good except teh scanner icon says "Scanner Redirection for VMware Horizon Connection to client side is lost."  When i run the scanner diagnostics it shows All the scanners that loaded but the log says that "The DSM TWAINDSM.dll could not be opened."  I tried connecting it with and without the Scanner Redirection enabled on the client with no luck.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

I am having problems with Bast connections through my UAG, I am just finishing off a deployment so its not yet work

When i try to connect through the UAG

In the client i don't get an error , it just spins for 10 seconds and then goes back to the pool selection screen

in the admin console on the connection server it allocates me a vdi in the events log

Is there a way to trouble shoot bast connectivity through the chain ?

it works fine over vpn or internally so in my mind it must be either firewall , the uAG tunnel or SSL error

to add my internal dns is different to my external , i am using a wildcard for the external dns all the way through to my connection server and it looks ok

As I understand, you cannot storage vmotion Linked-Clone VM's & instead move them via a rebalance task... However, what about Full Clone VM pools? I'm thinking they'd be fine, but haven't found anything to confirm this.

I need to move a few Full Clone VM's to a new datastore for maintenance purposes this weekend.

We keep getting the below error when adding a New Server to our VMWare view horizon client version 3.1.0.21879 :

Below is all the steps I have taken to resolve the issue:

- Added site to the proxy exception list GPO

- Added NO_PROXY environment variable

However I am still getting the issue the only way I can resolve is to open the proxy exception list remove all the site then re-add the sites.

I am having an issue with using PCoIP and Magtek Centurion encrypting swipes. These swipes just show up as HID devices. When using PCoIP and doing a swipe not all the characters go through to the VDI. These devices just send ascii characters so I can open notepad and see whats going being sent to t he VDI. So when trying to process the credit cards it fails because not all the data is being input into the fields for credit processing. If I switch to RDP it works 8 out 10 times. It does lose some info sometimes but rarely where as on PCoIP I can swipe it 10 times and might be able to get it read correctly once.

We have successfully had RSA SecurID set up as an authentication method using the UAG. We now plan to change that to Radius as we are implementing RSA's cloud connect product. Not knowing that we couldn't have both options in use, we set up the Radius settings. After reading up some more we realized you can only use one or the other option. So we attempted to disable the SecurID option. When I disable and click save I get the following: Please enable the authentication method

I can't disable either option and save the settings. Authentication is still working fine with the SecurID option. I suppose I have to deploy another instance of the UAG and set things up again?

We currently have HP T310 PCOIP clients and need some more.

We are not too happy with how PCOIP works with AutoCAD so are looking at moving over to Blast Extreme as it seems to be better and as VMware are phasing support for PCOIP out, i guess its a move in the right direction.

Can anyone recommend some good Zero Clients for Blast Extreme that work well with Nvidia cards (M60) for AutoCAD/Revit use?

Hope someone can help me out with the following error.

Environment:

I am working on a VMware Horizon 7.3.2 environment with only one Windows 10 (Enterprise x64 1607) Instant Clone Pool (+/- 20 desktops).

Like almost everyone, I use the OS Optimization Tool (OSOT) to optimize the golden/master/base image for VDI. The only thing we change is from the defaults is place a check at "disable the first logon experience".

Problem:

Since november 2017 or something the provisioning process breaks after customizing the cp-template machine.

Cloning the golden/master/base image is successful, it re configures the cp-template, starts-up, and then it times out after 600 seconds (10 minutes).

After half a day (error created in evening), when I enable provisioning in the morning it is going pass the timeout and provisioning is successful.

Findings/Troubleshooting:

My first thoughts were going to DHCP, DNS and AD, but they are working correctly (monitored all the registrations). The itXXXXXX is member of the AD and also gets an IP-address of the right DHCP server and register it in DNS.

So continued troubleshooting and it works only correctly when when I don't use the "OS Optimization Tool". It never times out at the above step in the process.

Error in log:

Within the Horizon Connection Server logs I see one line of the error without any root cause to search for: 2018-01-17T13:35:46.020+01:00 DEBUG (0D5C-1278) <WFE-01> [WaitForInternalTemplateAction] Internal Template: vm-4377 customization state returns: error.

Alert in Horizon:

The error in Horizon View Administrator Console (Desktop Pool) is: After waiting for 600 seconds internal template VM: vm-4377 is still has not finished customization. Giving up!.

Does one of you experience, read or find a solution for this? Within OSOT a lot of customizations take place and it is searching for a needle in a haystack.

I am Trying to edit my ( valid )  RSA SecurID settings on UAG and I get this "Please enable the authentication method "  or " Failed to set adapter configuration. A SecurID connectivity or configuration error has occurred. "

I have tried disabling the authentication method in Horizon settings then disabling the RSA SecurID completely in authentication settings but this doesn't help

Has anyone got around this without completely redeploying? This seems a dangerous glitch as i cannot even clear node secret and save

I've received this while trying to update a few pools, the only solution I've found to get around this is to completely delete the effected pool and regenerate it.  I haven't been able to find much reference to this error either.  Please feel free to ask any follow-up questions if needed, we're running View 5.1.1 build-799444. Any troubleshooting recommendations are greatly appreciated.

I am trying to remove Client Authentication users from my View 4.6 connection server. The issue is that the users have already been deleted from AD, so when I try to remove them from the server I get a message "failed to get SID for domain and username:......"

Is there a way to remove these users?

I am testing Persona Management. I have an XP Virtual machine that I am trying to copy the profile from. On a Windows 7 machine, I am running migprofile.exe (migprofile.exe "/s:\\poc-dvm-xp\c$\documents and settings\demo5" /t:\\poc-boc-dc01\persona_Management /takeownership).  According to the documentation, this is the correct syntax.  However, I keep getting an error:  "The source does not contain any profiles to migrate:  \\poc-dvm-xp\documents and settings\demo5.  I have the same problem when logged into the XP machine with the same command.

What am I doing wrong?

We are using view with Radius, and Multi-Factor Authentication.   The login sequence is pretty normal, when the user connects, they get a popup window, enter their credentials, then get the challenge for the MFA token, then they're in (or not).

We have some confusion with users due to the wording of the login prompt.   The fields requested are "Username" and "Passcode".  We find that "Passcode" seems to be particularly confusing to users who keep trying to enter their MFA token at that point instead of their password.

Is there any to change that wording, and have it request "Username" and "Password", or even "Email" and "Password"?

I have seen F5 allows for some customization of the login form, as descrived at VMware Horizon View Client Customization - custom field names and description but we aren't using F5.

I'm installing a VIEW 5.0 security server and I'm trying to pair it with a view 5.0 connection server. I've generated a new pairing password from the view administrator console but when I insert it during the security server installation I get the error INVALID PAIRING PASSWORD, I've tried to generate some different passwords but the message is always the same. What can I do to solve this problem?

So I am trying to configure logon segements to display in the helpdesk tool.   Seems like this would be very helpful for troubleshooting logons.

However, I don't understand the which server the directions are referring to in the second command:

The KB states:

Enable the timing profiler on each Connection Server instance to view logon segments.

1.  Use the following vdmadmin command to enable the timing profiler on each Connection Server instance: vdmadmin -I -timingProfiler -enable

2.  Use the following vdmadmin command to enable the timing profiler on a Connection Server instance that uses a management port: vdmadmin -I -timingProfiler -enable -server {ip/server}

What server is it referring to that uses a management port?
