Blast Extreme, runs TCP and not UDP

Are there any specific settings that must be set to have Blast Extreme protocol run on UDP ?

I have no firewall between connection server, client, and virtual desktop.

I can see that I run “blast” though the administration portal – but inside VM I can only see TCP traffic on port 22443. What should be done to have the blast protocol use UDP ?

Is it possible to organize the shortcuts to RDS apps in the Horizon View Client into folders?

Something like group everything for Office and group some other LOB apps in a separate folder.

Thx.

Chrome OS Client 4, USB redirection?

I see this listed as one of the new features of Horizon 7 when used the the new ChromeOS 4.0 client

"Possibility to access Google drive and USB storage in remote apps and desktops with client drive redirection"

Does this mean that when a user with a Chromebook connects to a Windows desktop and plugs a flash drive into the Chromebook, this flash drive will be available in the Windows session?

Brief "error" during customization, but then goes to Provisioned

Hi,

So I've recently been getting the following error for every linked clone, non-persistent, machine that is built using quickprep:

Provisioning error occurred for Machine someMachineName: Customization error due to no network communication between the View agent and Connection Server

This error appears only for a few minutes, and then goes back to normal (i.e. the machine is created, provisioned and available for use).

I checked the ga-new.log for the time/date of this error and cannot see anything particularly useful. It seems to happen just before a reboot from Windows activation (KMS). The reboot is called, but there is 37 second period where nothing happens before the reboot process is initiated. There also seems to be a three minute period where nothing is happening after the machine comes back up. This seems like a timeout issue?

  • I already have the ExecScriptTimeout setting in the registry (Documentation Center for VMware Horizon 6.0 with View), and I can see this is working for my Customization Script (As the ga-new log file shows the correct timeout at a later point in the logfile), but the issue is happening before the customization script is invoked.
  • We are using VMXNET3 on Windows 7, and have the appropriate KB hotfix installed.
  • This only appeared to be happening after I uninstalled VMware Tools and Agent, and reinstalled (in that order).
  • Agent 6.1.0

For example, Timeout error occurred reported by View Administrator at 3/24/2016 6:04:15 PM showing in red below.

Horirzon 7 Instant Clone Timeout Values

Hey everyone,

I'm working on testing the instant clone features in View 7. Back in the day, we had configuration options for the timeout on clone operations with View Composer. I know where these config values are but the instant clone feature in my test lab is running into this problem and my publish operations are failing. Does anyone know where these timeout values exist for instant clones since they don't use view composer? I am certain these reside on the connection server but I am looking and can't locate them.

Thanks.

USB microphone not working but receiving audio out

Hi,

I have recently been tasked with looking into using USB headsets on our recently deployed HP T620 Thin Clients.

There seems to be bits and pieces documented about the issues around connecting audio devices through a PCoIP connection but nothing solid.

My initial issue was that the audio I was receiving from another user on the Thin Client was muffled and distorted but they could hear me perfectly on their end.

To solve this issue I installed the Teradici Virtual Audio drivers and updated the ThinPro image on the thin client (which was very outdated).

I thought this may solve the issue I was having with distorted audio, but alas it only reversed it - now I can hear the VM audio perfectly but it is not picking up the microphone input at all.

Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated to get this issue solved asap.

Thanks

Hello!

I'm testing new Horizon 7 with EUC Access Point (AP) (euc-access-point-2.5.0.0-3588605_OVF10).

I've deployed the AP in "1 NIC" configuration. Finally when I open https://AP-FQDN I got an error "no page displayed".

Has anyone already successfully deployed the AP?

What are the appropriate Firewall\VLAN ACL Rules for this situation?

Does this all look correct? The Connection Server is on VLAN 6 172.16.6.166 with the windows firewall on with the default rules. The Virtual Desktops are on VLAN 4, the windows firewall is off. The client access devices running the Horizon View client are on VLAN 2 and VLAN 4 without local firewalls. We dont use MMR or RDP. When a connection is being negotiated, doesnt the agent need to talk back to the client on random ports? Is there a way to configure a range for the pcoip and usb agents to use?

All of the text for the menus and buttons is rendered in white, which on a light grey background is difficult to read. Please see the attached screenshot for an example using the Help > About dialog.

Is the text colour configurable and if so, where I should go to change it?

Confining View to one monitor not two

Hi everyone, I am running Horizon View for Mac.  I have an iMac with an attached external monitor.  I like to run View full screen, but when I do it by default takes over the second screen as well.  I have tried to use Windows Control panel in the VM to remove the 2nd display entirely, but I cannot seem to do that.  Can anyone help me figure out how to limit View to just one display while still running it in full screen mode on that display?  Thanks.

Using VMware Horizon View 5.3. I have a older persistent VM that the user has a local profile (software developer w/ Visual Studio etc.) that I want to change to use Persona like everybody else in our environment. But I don't want to lose his settings (AppData such as Outlook, VS, Adobe Acrobat etc).  I don't want to have to re-register/activate a bunch of his software and stuff. Is there an easy way to do this?

We have two clusters.  One (5.5) is dedicated to our server environment and the other (new 6.0) cluster is a Horizon View VDI deployment.  I am wondering if it would cause issues if I put the view connection server in the server cluster and build the workstations and such in the Horizon cluster.

Hi,

I've just upgraded to Horizon 7 on vSphere 6U2 and I'm trying to setup  a new pool with instant cloning. I am however having problems with this and get the following error message:

Vmware Horizon stuck on Waiting for agent

Hello,

I open a request because I encounter an error with a manuel pool in our environnement.

We have a manuel pool where we already have 10 VM who working correctly.

The issue are the following :

I clone a VM in our Vcenter, I configure the VM by adding this one the domain, change the hostname, etc. The view agent are installed on the Windows 7 in version 6.2.0. The latest version of the agent.

After I go the the web interface on our Vmware View Horizon and adding the Desktop to the manuel pool. The desktop is adding but i got the message "Waiting for agent".

I try to delete vmware tools and vmware  view agent on the VM and re-install it in the correct order but nothing change. The message still present.

I also try to install other version of the view agent on the Desktop but always the same message.

I look in the registry of the Desktop : VMWare Inc => VMware VDM => Agent => Configuration => In the value Broker, the value is blank. When I try to add the value and restart the services for the agent, the value dissapear.

I don't see any connection to the connection server with "netstat -an". But i'm able to ping the connection server.

When I look on the Desktop who correctly working the adress of the broker are set correctly.

Can you help me for this issue ?

Best regards,

The issue are the same => Problems witih VMs "Waiting For Agent"

When I look in the VMX file of the Desktop like in this website => http://www.mikesmuzings.com/category/vmware-horizon-view/

I just see one line with : machine.id = "vdi.broker.itemDn=cn=42f520a0-07d4-449d-b3fc-448b2789cc73,ou=servers,dc=vdi,dc=vmware,dc=int"

There was missing some information about the connection server.

Here the log of the desktop in attachement.

ON the conection server, I found the following line : 2016-02-07T16:13:16.310+01:00 DEBUG (0F70-138C) <DesktopControlSessions> [DesktopTracker] PC031 (ipHostNumber=pc031.charleroi.tec-wl.be/-/-, ipHostNumberOverride not set, DN=cn=6f598328-7915-4629-8fae-dda920bfaff4,ou=servers,dc=vdi,dc=vmware,dc=int) offline - unassigned

After the pc031.charleroi.tec-wl.be on the working VM, the ip of the connection server are not mentionned.

Ps : Our View connection server is in 6.2 version.

View pool for lab network

We have a view environment in our production domain however we have a separate lab domain that consist of a standalone domain controller. We would like to be able to provision a VDI pool in our production environment for use in our lab environment. Obviously we don't want to allow full access and communication between the two domains. We also do not want to build an entire separate VDI environment in our lab domain. Does anyone know the best and most secure way to accomplish this? Our current environment consist of a security server, composer, appvolumes server and a connection server and replica.
