Skype call ends and disconnects users Session

When a user is in a Skype call with screen sharing occasionally when the user disconnects from the call the VDI session will drop. VDM logs show the following. The Question is how to prevent this.

VDI at remote office

I have a question I hope someone can help answer. I have a remote office that has users in multiple departments, one of which is Engineering. I am implementing VDI at that location and would like to have their environment at my main datacenter that is connected via 10mbit. Most users will have VDI but the Engineering users will still have workstations and some sales users will have laptops. Where should I store the data that the all need to share? Should I store it at my main datacenter and have slow performance for users that have real machines or store it at the remote office and have slow performance for users on VDI? Has anyone done this? If so, how?

VMware View, Wyse Zero Client and the Windows Lock Screen

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this odd situation:  We are running View 5.2.0 agent with Windows 7 x64 on a 5.3 server and use Wyse P24/45 zero clients for the users desk.  Each desk has (so far) two monitors.  Everything is fine, however in some situations when a user locks their workstation to walk away, it will lock but still display a static image on the secondary monitor of whatever was open there at the time of lock.  So for instance, if a user had cnn.com open on the right (secondary) monitor when they lock, that page is still visible, while on the left (primary) monitor the standard

CTRL-ALT-DEL screen is shown.  The page (or whatever is still visible) is in no way interactive, and since the image is static, even if the page auto-refreshes you will only ever see the content as it appeared when the machine was locked.  When the user unlocks, both screens go black as they normally do and then display current content.

Has anyone else seen anything like this?  It's not the biggest of deals, however it would be a security concern if a user left a sensitive document up on their secondary monitor, and locked their workstation to walk away.

View client shows: Your Account is disabled while RDS Connection is active.

Hello,

we are running into a strange issue, users try to start another RDP Pool Application while a RDS Connection is already established, the view client shows the message "Your Account is disabled". We checked already everything and ended by the following discussion: View 6.2 bug?

griffjames talks about an extra security check which can be disabled, does anyone know how we can do this?

Thanks.

Can't connect to a VM through PCoIP

Hi,

Some of the users in the company I work are having problems connecting to their VMs ( about 10-15 from 100). It is not a black screen. It is just saying that the VM can't be contacted.

When it happens: sometimes (2-3 times a week), at the first login in the morning.

Changes made lately: Windows Updates.

How the issue is solved: Restart the VMware View Agent Service remotely.

I have reinstalled the View Agent on their machines. I have updated it. No luck.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I have a VMware Horizon 6 Connection server running version 6.2.2 - 3508079, that I am attempting to configure Security Protocols and Cipher Suites for the HTML Access BLAST?

1

Start the Windows Registry Editor.

2

Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\VMware Blast\Config registry key.

3

Add two new string (REG_SZ) values, SslProtocolLow and SslProtocolHigh, to specify the range of protocols.

The data for the registry values must be tls_1.0, tls_1.1, or tls_1.2. To enable only one protocol, specify the same protocol for both registry values. If any of the two registry values does not exist or if its data is not set to one of the three protocols, the default protocols will be used.

4

Add a new string (REG_SZ) value, SslCiphers, to specify a list of cipher suites.

Type or paste the list of cipher suites in the data field of the registry value. For example,

ECDHE-RSA-AES256-SHA:HIGH:!AESGCM:!CAMELLIA:!3DES:!EDH:!EXPORT:!MD5:!PSK:!RC4:!SRP:!aNULL:!eNULL

I could not find the indicated HKLM key path in the documentation. Please advise.

Moved Virtual Workstation to different storage location. Virtual Workstation now has a status of "Available (Missing)" in VMware Horizon View Administrator.

Hello, I would like to upgrade our Horizon View environment to 6.2.2. However I would like to leave the agent at the current version 5.2.0.987719 for a week so that I can do a phased migration?

After installing certificate from enterprise CA i cannot administrate the connection server

ICMP Traffic from View Client to View Connection Server & Desktop

I noticed that when users connect into View that there is a lot of ICMP Traffic from the View Client host to the View Connection Server & VDI desktop.  I have ICMP blocked for any external users coming in so I see lot of these deny attempts in my logs.  I've checked the VMware documentation and can't find anything talking about needing to allow ICMP.

So I guess I'm wondering why the View client is trying to do this, and what is the purpose?  Am I hurting anything by blocking this ICMP traffic?

PCoIP Gateway Connection Issues

I am having trouble getting the PCoIP Gateway to work. Everything works fine internally. All the settings seem to be correct. PCoIP Secure Gateway on Security Server is set to the Externalip:4172 and on the connection server Use PCoIP Secure Gateway connections to machine is checked with the PCoIP ExternalURL: InternalipOfConnectionServer:4172

I do not have access to the firewall but here are the rules the network admin setup for me:

- Anybody external to DMZ security server - TCP 443, TCP 8443, TCP and UDP 4172

- DMZ security server to Internal connection server - TCP 8009, TCP 4001, TCP 4002, UDP 500, ESP

- DMZ security server to Internal Client VMs VLAN - TCP 3389, TCP 22443, TCP and UDP 4172

- Internal connection server to DMZ security server - UDP 500, ESP

When connecting externally over PCoIP I get "The connection to the remote computer failed" I have spent a lot of time trying to diagnose and troubleshoot but have come up blank.
Anyone have any ideas?

Pool hangs at Customizing

I am trying to spin up a new pool for a specific use case, and am running into some issues. I am hoping someone can offer suggestions. The pool is on a secure VLAN with very little access to the outside world. The security engineer created a full ACL to allow all traffic between the vCenter server and this VLAN for Composer activities. When attempting to spin up the pool, I see the template cloned and the machines successfully created. The machines are joined to the domain (I can actually see the objects in A.D), but that is the point where they hang. If I log into one manually as the local admin, I am immediately presented with a Windows prompt to reboot to complete changes. However, even doing this does not allow the machine to move beyond the customizing phase.

We are using KMS for Windows activation through the QuickPrep, but I have confirmed from within one of the created VMs that I can telnet to the KMS server on that port, so I don't believe it is that. Just in case, I set the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\vmware-viewcomposer-ga\SkipLicenseActivationregistry key to 1. However this does not seem to have helped any. If I move the pool back to our normal VLAN it spins up just fine, but our security engineer swears he is not seeing any traffic failing between vCenter and the secure VLAN. Just curious if anyone has some suggestions on what to try next, or has seen something similar.

LPT1 dongle redirection with horizon client

Good afternoon,

Is it possible to redirect a license dongle connected on LPT1 port?

I tests to redirect with 'serial port redirection' option but you see only RS232 port and NOT parallel port.

It seems that you can redirect LPT1 port if you want to use a printer but I don't know how to use a license dongle.

Any experience please? Thank you

Horizon View 6.1 behind Sophos UTM Web Application Firewall

I have a home lab where I have Horizon View 6.1 setup behind a Sophos UTM Web Application Firewall. I have NAT/Firewall rule for TCP/UDP 4172 to hit my View security server. The Web Application Firewall is configured for view.barrettnetwork.com:443 to hit my View security server as well. With this configuration, the Windows client hangs at "Authenticating" then eventually fails. However, the Android clients logs in without any issues. I have a case open with Sophos to help with looking at the logs but I am just curious if anyone has advice with setting up View behind a proxy/application firewall.

Hello do You plan to update the Horizon client for iOS?

Current version lacks iPad pro support (app resolution is very low), iOS9 multitasking is also not available.

Using the latest versions of IOS and Horizon app, when I connect to a windows 10 VM the resolution will not scale properly. Any thoughts? I've attached a couple screenshots taken from my ipad. If I choose a resolution lower than 2048x1536 I am unable to see the entire desktop.

New 4.0 iPad app crashes if you use an integrated RSA token

When using an integrated token in the iPad app the app allows me to connect once, after logging out of desktop or app it immediately crashes when trying to login again.  Also the app starts to crash if you exit out of it and try to even open it again, If you remove the integrated RSA token the app begins to work normally.

Windows 10 slow login

We have been running Window 7 using View for several years. It takes about 35 seconds to login to a Win7 desktop

I am working on building a master image for Window 10 but found logins to be very slow. We are running View 6.2.1 under ESXi 5.5 Update 2.

Here is what I have done

  1. Installed Windows 10, 32 bit, build 1511 which is the latest available for download
  2. Ran Windows updates and installed all available
  3. 1 vCPU and 2GB of RAM. This is the same resources that we use under Win7
  4. Ran the optimization tool found here taking all the defaults
VMware OS Optimization Tool – VMware Labs
  5. Took a snapshot, made a new pool with just 2 desktops
  6. Login times are 1:50, more than a minute longer than Win7. When someone logs in it says "Preparing Windows" then you get the "We're Happy You're Here" followed by a few more messages and finally the desktop appears

I then just went to the vSphere client, got a console session to one of the desktops, logged in (which took 1:50), logged off, and logged back in again, it took about 35 seconds. In other words, logging in the second time cuts login time significantly. Of course a desktop will only realize you have logged in before if it is a persistent desktop. Using a console session in the client to login twice does not refresh the desktop. We use non-persistent desktops so they are refreshed after each log off.

Any ideas how to speed up logins?

Is Windows 10 under View just not a good choice?

Would things improve under ESXi 6.0 Update 2? We are upgrading to the newest version of vSphere in about 2 weeks

Hello,

I want to change logo and favicon for view homepage.

The following guideline only provide the information for changing the Client download page.

Documentation Center for Horizon 6 version 6.1

I change to modify main.jsp in C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware View\Server\broker\webapps\portal but it does not take any effect.

How I can customize the login page?
