Hi gurus
how do I go and purge View persona of a user, the persona folder is so screwed up, that I would like this user to start fresh
Thanks for the help
I need redirect Appdata\local for user because I save config programs data.
My version of Horizon is 7.3 and when redirect appdata\local with Persona Management, it does of windows logon is 90-120 seconds. If to same VM, I don't redirect appdata\local, it does logon in 5-10 seconds.
I tested all configurations in Persona Management Policies and non has worked.
The issue only happens with windows 10, with windows server 2012 r2 works fine.
Exist solution? exist some software redirect appdata\local without slow logons?
Many thanks community!!
Hello Experts,
Recently, I installed Horizon View 7 for a client and on their parent images uninstalled the old version of the view agent and installed the latest 7.0.1. So an odd thing is occurring, out of 90 users, 30 of these users are showing the following warning in the View Admin event logs after 15 minutes of logging on and happens every day to the same users.
The Pending session on machine %Machine name% for user %username% has expired.
Also, on the connection server, the logs show this message: "Client does not support idle session handling. Desktop SSO times out in: Never. Application SSO Times out in: Never.”
I originally thought it was the SSO timer since that was set to 15 minutes, so I changed it to NEVER and the warning still shows up for these same 30 users. The users experiencing the issue are using Teradici Zero Clients firmware version 4.8.0.
Also, this is happening in different pools so it is not pool specific. Has anyone experienced this with the new Horizon View 7.0.1? Could this possibly be a bug since no one is experiencing login issues?
Thanks
Hello,
I don't know if it is related or not but after we moved our VM Infrastructure to a new DataCenter, some View Clients started to have connection issues. When the VM is powered on (and the status on the View Administrator is "Available" ) the View Client can connect whithout any problem . When the VM is powered off the View Client can't "send the command" to power on the VM hence won't be able to connect. I've looked into the logs but couldn't find any clue.
Current environment:
View 5.2.0.987719
View Agent 5.2.0.987719
vCenter 5.1
Guest OS Windows 7
VM Tools installed ver. 9
Any help or direction to search for a solution would be appreciate it
I can upload any log if requested. Thanks in advance

We've come across a couple apps that don't like being in AppStacks. Specifically Visio and Project 2013. Before you send me off to the KB article on how to get those working with AppVolumes, know that I've attempted those steps multiple times with the same result every time- "unable to find a license for this application. <Visio/Project> will now close."
We've installed them on our RDSH farm and they've tested out quite nicely when I use my Horizon client (v.4.6.1), but I'd like to know if I can embed them in the VDI sessions without having to install the client in the image or as an AppStack itself.

I have a couple of users that are unable to save anything to their profiles all of a sudden. Test files saved to the desktop, browser favorites desktop setting changes are all reverted back after each new login.
I tried renaming their profiles in the hopes they would get recreated. A new profile did get created but, now I am unable to access the profile as an admin.
Can someone point me in the right direction to find logs that might tell me why it is happening or tell me the proper way to reset a corrupt profile?
Thank you.
Hi
I'm using Horizon Client 4.6.0 on a Macbook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) running High Sierra 10.13.2.
Every time I use ethernet the client connects briefly, then disconnects, saying it has lost the connection. If I restart it and reconnect the same thing happens repeatedly.
On wifi - no problems.
Can anyone offer any suggestions or solutions?
Thanks
Mike
Hi
Horizon Client 4.6.0 on a Macbook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) running High Sierra 10.13.2.
Apple has removed the option to exit a space from the "spaces bar" in "mission control".
When View is maximised to a "space" it does not provide a menu drop down to enable minimising the app window so that other menu items can be accessed. Now that Apple have removed the exit button from the spaces bar, I can no longer access View menus once I have elected to run the app window at full screen.
This is a pretty significant loss of functionality!

Hey All,
I am having and issue where i redirect downloads and documents to a user directory in a file server and its cuasing an issue when a user is trying to open a excel file when excel is already open. It says the file is already open and cant open it, but if you close Excel and then open the file from the \\share\userdata\excel.xlsx it opens right up, any ideas?
thanks
We recently upgraded from View 6.2.3 to 7.2.0 and since then we have several applications that when launched from an RDS published app pool, are now showing an additional taskbar icon/window that never used to be there prior to the upgrade.
I've attached an example. It doesn't happen to all of our published apps, but it does happen to some of them.
If I RDP to the server directly and launch the app, I do not get this issue, it's only when launching via the Horizon View client on Windows.
Has anyone come across this before and know how to fix it? It's not a major problem but our users have picked up on it and would like it fixed.
Also note - this is on Windows 2012 Server, and there are 3 RDSH servers in our pool, the problem exists on at least 2 of them with separate apps, so it's not limited to a single RDSH server.
Hi,
we are using the uagdeploy script, it is really great and helps us in standardizing the deployment process.
With 3.x some new Attributes have been introduced, we use some of them, it would be great if those could also be implemented in the uagdeploy script.
Currently we are missing the following two attributes:
uagName
adminPasswordExpirationDays
is there any chance to get this implemented in the script?
Thanks and Best Regards
Fredy
We are attempting to add a standalone View Composer server to our environment though the add vCenter wizard. We receive "Internal View Composer error." and the log file shows:
2013-06-27 21:26:33,115 | 3 | DEBUG | ServiceCore.Security.AuthorizedUsersManager - IsAccessAllowed() returned False for user 'AD\vcomposeadmin'.
We followed the vmware documentation and walk through video on creating the user account with associated permissions. The video we followed is here

I'm trying to install VMware Horizon client for remote connect on a Nixos machine. Unfortunately the deploy paradigm is slightly different than typical linux distros - is it possible for me to build a version of this client from source or are there only binaries available?
Thanks -
Matty
I'm a desktop engineer and looking into the situation that Horizon view client 4.4 can generate a lot of dump files. I noticed these files are stored in C:\ProgramData\VMware\VDM\Dumps as well in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\VMware\VDM
These files are around 400-600 mb each and one user had about 40 GB of dump files. Another user has about 20 GB of files.
Is there a way to limit the number of files generated? Or otherwise, to disable the creation all together?
See screenshot below of one user with a number of files in a short period of time
Thanks.
Hello,
my company has an old connection server which has some problems, so we decieded to install a new Connection server/Composer (6.2) and move the Pool to the new Server.
But how can i export/import the pool with the persistent disks ?
Or sould i create a new linked pool from the same Golden Image and then import and add the persistens disks manual to the linked clones ?
Thank you very much.
On our active directory domain joined golden image with default credential providers, when a user resumes from screen saver or unlocks the screen, they are immediately presented with a field to type their password.
Once that computer has been turned into a linked clone, the VMWare agent installs a new credential provider and filter that presents an additional screen during the unlock sequence that requires a user to click on their user tile/icon. This step seems unnecessary.
Why is this additional tile screen needed? Will there be a future agent release that makes it optional? We want a transition for our users to be seamless and not require unnecessary tile clicking.
VMWare provider dll:
%ProgramFiles%\VMWare\Vmware View\Agent\bin\wscredf.dll 5.2.0.17180 build 987719
Registry Key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\Credential Providers(Filters)\
Provider GUID: BEBE672F-B0E3-4354-BB86-4EF127A55B6A wscredp
Filter GUID: 39FA3429-F61A-4975-9653-327BCE27C037 wscredf

Update 1/6/14:
I found that after logging in from the View Client, if you set the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\SessionData\1\LastLoggedOnProvider = {6F45DC1E-5384-457A-BC13-2CD81B0D28ED} and copy the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\SessionData\1\LoggedOnSAMUser to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\SessionData\1\LoggedOnUsername, on subsequent unlocks and reconnects, that extra tile screen can be bypassed. Now if VMware could just reproduce that with some work by the agent!
End update
Why doesnt VMware incorporate these registry keys into their credential provider?
Hi,
I already use VMware Logon Monitor in the past when it was a Fling project.
It work perfectly and I was able to implement the parameters to get all logs copied in a network share.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\VMware Logon Monitor]
"flags"=dword:00000003
"RemoteLogPath"="\\ip-network-share\\logs\\view"
"RemoteLog"="\\ip-network-share\\logs\\view"
Now this functionality is included in View Agent.
I try to set the parameters trough the registry the same way, but it don't work.
I don't find any documentation on this feature.
Somebody can help ?
Thx
Not sure if anyone has seen this warning in windows but i'm getting "The winlogon notification subscriber <VMWVvpsvc> is taking long time to handle the notification event (Logon)." And my client is taking almost 3 to 5mins to logon. I haven't tried this with and without persistent disk and redirection of the profile using persona. I haven't tried it with just persistent disk and no redirection. Anyone have any ideas what would be causing this.
