[problem] VMware Certification 13.10
Hi All,
I have a problem when I ran the chapter-3.20 Setup:DedicatedPool in the step 26.Connect to the dedicated pool, and verify that the desktop is launched in Horizon Client, but it always show the "The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed."
I had refer the vmware knowledge base below:
I follow the knowledge still can't solve the problem I faced, If I open the vm by vsphere client and rejoin the domain, it can login by use the domain admin, but if I connect the vm from horizon client, the vm can't login by domain admin.
Please help us to solve this problem, thank you.
My vm client is win7 professional SP1.
Best,
Scott.
View 6.0 SmartCard (CAC) passthrough
VMware,
We use smart card (CAC) authentication in our domain (two factor authentication)
We would like to authenticate via CAC to the connection server through the clearcube/thin clients.
Our clearcubes (zero/thin) clients aren't passing through credentials or detecting the cards when we plug them into the clearcube clients. All we get is username/password (no pin) to authenticate to the connection server to assign the correct pool, then a second time for the virtual machine where we authenticate via CAC as usual
Any help is appreciated
horizon view separate vcenter
is it recommended to have horizon view hosted on its own vcenter?
how about view composer and view manager? Is there HA or redundancy available for these?
moving vdi desktops between virtual centers
is is possible to move vdi desktops from one vcenter to another?
Skype saved passwords
Hi all,
Skype for Business not saving credentials. We are running View Persona. When we log off and log on again the password is gone but username is still there.
Is there a way to get the passwords to save?

James.
Possible to to grab when cursor enters windows after host ctrl-alt-del
We have horizon view client 3.5.2 on thin client with win7 embedded. When locking the host screen (ctrl-alt-del) and unlocking, the view client has lost focus on the vdi screen that is open in full after unlocking the host screen.
Hence forcing the user to click once in the vdi before able to press the ctr-alt-insert to unlock their vdi. Is there anyway possible to let the vliew client grab the cursor automatically? In workstation there seems to be a specific option for this but cant find anything for that with horizon view with client 352.
MS Office license
Hi all,
When we license MS Office 2013 the license does not stay once the new VM's have been deployed.
How do we get this to work does anybody know?
Thanks,
James.
Recompose "Wait for users to log off"
So back in the day this would often leave me with desktops that were on different versions and sometimes I would need to do a manual cleanup. I am now on 6.2 but have not used that functionality in some time... Are there any lingering issues? completely reliable now? Thoughts?
View session aware of its underlying client ?
Hello
Within my VMWare view session I need to set a specific registry key to either 00005 or 00000. dependant on whether I am using a VMWare View Client or a Zero Client as the method of connectivity.
I can set the registry key via GPO no problem - but I don't know how to base it on what underlying client is being used.
Why do I want to do this ? this registry key will enable certain application features when using the VMWare view client and disable the features when using the Zero Client.
Any ideas/ options/ suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Second Domain on Horizon / Composer
I have my main domain with the connection server, security server, composer server and the vcenter appliance. It is all working and I have virtual desktops deployed using horizon.
I am working on a test scenario of adding a second domain with a domain controller and desktops for that domain.
I have a 2nd host which will have the domain controller and the virtual desktops for the test system.
I added a two way trust between my main domain and the test domain and that is working great.
The second domain I added I just called corptest.test.com and on my main domain I added a conditional forwarder for corptest.test.com to the new domain controller. When I added the two way trust it found the test domain controller no problem and added the trust.
I then added the second domain to the composer through the connection web interface. This went fine and it found the test domain and added it successfully.
On the test domain controller I added permissions to my test OU for the account that composer uses from the main domain. That worked great. I could browse to the account from the test domain out to the main domain and pick the account and added the required permission so when I add a few virtual desktops and they get added the service account has permission to do so.
When I go to create a new desktop pool logged in as an admin on the main domain, I get all the way to the end and it shows two domains. My main domain and corptest.test.com in the list. When I pick corptest and hit the browse button to pick the folder for the OU I get an error that says "Internal Error". When I look on the connection servers logs I see "cannot get domain information by dns domain name corptest.test.com". I thought it could be a permission issue because DNS seems to be resolving fine. So I added the admin account I am logging into the connection server web interface with to the main OU of the test domain and gave it full permissions but that didn't help.
Any one have any idea to what I am missing?
Thanks,
J
Pool creation fails with File [datastore name] virtual machine/sdd was not found
Hi. I'm running vSphere 5.1 and View 5.2. When I create a linked clone pool the replica is created and during the task that states 'reconfigure virtual machine' it fails with the error message in the subject line. I've tried everything and don't know what is causing this issue. I've attached log files from View Composer (which is running on a separate machine) as well as other screen captures.
I've created many pools before on different installations and never run into this before. Any help appreciated.
Replica vm
what's wrong if i lost datastore with replica vm of my Linked clone pool?
virtual desktops still working?
Migrating Composer database

Mouse pointer lag
Hi all,
I have a problem When using a horizon view client within a horizon view session. The mouse pointer has a huge lag and I was wondering what the cause could be?
Thanks
James.
Moving persistent disks
Hi all,
Is it possible to separate persistent disks from the linked-clone when the pool is already created? If yes, where?
When I create a new pool I can decide, if I want to separate the persistent disk from the OS, but in our existing pool I can't see that option.
If it's not impossible: is there an easy way, to migrate the persistent disks from one pool to another with the option I mentioned above?
Thanks,
James
View Composer Fault: VC operation exceeded the task timeout limit set by View Composer.
It happened two days ago for the first time . recomposed several times but it kept failing. Yesterday in the morning, we were able to do a recompose task and it was successful. Is there a way to prevent from happening again. Suggestions?
Migrate to new Datacenter
Hi All
I would like to migrate a View environment to a new datacenter in a different physical location.
I would like to keep the original ip addresses and FQDNs.
Is there any best practice methods for this type of migration?
I have two connection brokers, composer, security server, 160 linked clones with persistent disks.
We don't have a fibre connection between the sites so can't perform a rebalance.
There will be a cut-over on the final weekend.
Regards
John
Application Crashes
Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB x64 with Office 2016 x64 running on Horizon View 6.2.0 with agent version 6.2.0.7272. All our users and in this case test users login with CAC/Smart Cards, so during the initial agent install we enabled the PCoIP Smart Card install within the base image we will be using. Rolled out a pool of about a dozen machines, had a few users test the Windows 10 image for feedback...they were able to login perfectly fine with their CAC cards, but every user who tried to launch IE 11 or Word crashed instantly for all test users. Below are the Application Error logs, looks like the vmwsci.dll was the faulting module which caused the application to crash. So I tested a new pool without the PCoIP Smart Card software and was then able to launch Word with no issues but IE still have the same fault/crash. Any ideas?
