hi all !

 

1- i have a dynamique clone pool of Windows 8.1 this pool is non persistants computers, the problème is each time a user login he see the welcome animation (last 1 minute) is there a way to remove it ?

2- my other probleme is more complex ... my lab is in the subnet 10.0.254.x et my production lan is 192.168.0.x from my lan i have acces to my lab without problems, but when i tried to connect from my lan with view client i get an error but if i put  dns ip of my dc(dns server in my lab) it work! so i tried to edit my host file with all my lab server ip and full fqn name but it dont work ... does anyone have an idea to resolve my problem without installing a security server?

 

i use view version 6

1 dc (win2k8R2)

1 vcenter appliance

1 connection serveur

1 compser server

 

i use all the latest version available from vmware

Customization script not joining domain

Good morning everyone,


I was wondering if anyone knew how to troubleshoot why our templates aren't joining the domain after running the customization script. I've tried every possible scenario like using a FQDN, multiple service accounts, etc and I still cannot find how it should be set.


It's been failing ever since we moved our VM's up to hardware version 10.

 

I checked both the log files and they don't show anything related to the domain.

VMware SDK/APi to manage Vmware Horizon View

Hi all,

 

I have seen this question posted couples of times but none has the answer to it. So, I am positing the same again.

Is there any VMware SDK/API using which you can configure and manage VMware Horizon View setup like we have vSphere SDK to Manage vCenter Server. I want to create desktop pool and manage the pool remotely.

I would be running client on Linux machine and so PowerShell is not an option.

How to fix error "could not establish tunnel connection" ?

Hi everyone !

My company use VMware View 5.2 and I was deloyment it .

However, at computer of user. sometimes display " could not establish turnnel connection" and if user click on button "OK"  the will be disconnect VDI .

So, i have question ! How to fix error  "could not establish tunnel connection" ?

Hi everyone !

My company use VMware View 5.2 and I was deloyment it .

However, at computer of user. sometimes display " ssl connection was shut down while reading " and if user click on button "OK"  the will be disconnect VDI .

So, i have question ! How to fix error  "ssl connection was shut down while reading " ?

Class room teaching different windows and office version licensing question

Hi all!

 

i have to do a proof of concept for a class room who will teach Windows 8.1 and office 2007 to 2013 ,

there will be 16 thin client who will access vm on my server, but i need 16 vm running win8.1 an office 2013, 16 vm running win 8.1 and office 2010 and 16 vm running win 8.1 and office 2007 .

for all these vm (48) only 16 will be use at the same time, when i contact micro$oft about vda licensing they told me i have to pay 48 Windows 8.1 license even only 16 will be use at the same time ...

 

my question is : is there a way to dynamicly install office 20XX depending of the user name who will log in on the vm desktop ?

 

if you have another idea or solution to reduce the licensing cost it will be appreciate !

Linked-Clone Vm ask user to reboot

I don't know why, Almost all the time, VM from a linked-clone ask "You must restart your computer to apply these changes" nothing is list in "These changes" and there nothing in the event viewer.

 

Running:

Vmware Horizon View 5.2
Windows 7 Ent x32

 

 

Anybody have a idea?

Horizon View Direct Connect Agent and Licensing.

I've been reading about the Direct Connection Agent and have even tested it.  It has worked great so far.  I am confused about how this product is licensed.  We have a few manual pools in our View environment where we provision machines and manually install windows applications.  It would be easier to provision the machines and use VADC to allow direct connections (bypassing our View Connection server all together)  Is there a view licensing requirement to do it this way or is that connection covered by our per CPU license model?

View 5.3.1 3d render not work

Good work.

There is a server with an installed video card Nvidia Grid K1. In ESXi driver installed nvidia vib. In the settings of virtual machines can I install configure "Enabled 3d Support" and "3D render", it all works. Why creating a pool in Vmware View, I can not specify the parameters "3D render"? This setting is not active. What may be the reason?

 

 

When you create a pool of virtual machines get only "Software 3D"

PXE Booting Vmware View Linux Client w/Ubuntu (Not using LTSP)

This topic has been thrown around in here before but I'd like to start a new discussion on the topic and describe what we do today versus where we'd like to be.

 

Current Situation

 

Today, we're re-purposing old PCs and installing WinXP with only Vmware View installed. We enable autologin and replace the default shell with the VMware View client so when the machine starts up it goes right to the VMware View login screen. Then we create an image and clone other PCs using that image. We have a different image for each different desktop model we own. Although this works well, it can be time consuming to maintain all these images and having to clone desktops.

 

 

Future Goal

 

We would like to PXE boot a minimal Ubuntu 11.10 installation with LXDE, autologin and autostart the VMware View client for Linux (Not the open client). This will allow us to maintain one or just a few client images right from the server and will also be able to remove the hard drives from our old desktops.

 

Status

 

  • Ubuntu Server 11.10 has been setup with DHCP, TFTP and NFS
  • Minimal ubuntu client image has been created and LXDE and Vmware View client packages have been installed.
  • The client boots up with LXDE desktop and autologin has been enabled.
  • The client boots up in less than 50 seconds

 

Next Steps

 

  • Setup autostart of VMware view client with custom parameters
  • Enable sound and USB redirection
  • Configuration for multiple displays

 

 

I plan document the steps that i followed to setup my environment once i have everything finalized. In the meantime, if anyone is working on something similar, I'd really like to hear about your experience.

persona management: blocks or files

Every n minutes  persona management uploads to the net share, the changes occureed into the user profile since the last upload.

My question is if the upload is at file level (it uploads a complete file) or at block level (it uploads just the blocks  modified) ?

Slow response with PCOIP

some of my users said the the response is slow when opening attachments in email, it seems a little glitchy.

the second problem is no sound is comming out with the vmware view client.

We are using Vmware view 5.0 infrastructure. Users are connecting to vmware view security server.

VDI Local Storage Vs. Shared Storage

Good Morning Everyone,

 

I am getting ready to implement VDI in my Vmware infrastructure
and have encountered the question of Shared Storage vs. Local Storage for my VM’s.
Through the research I have found online, this seems to be a highly debated
topic, however the debates I find seem to be dated by 2-3 years.

 

I am wondering if any of you could share your experiences
with either type of storage and the Pro’s and Con’s associated with each. For example,
I’ve heard that the only avenue of management for Local Storage is through a
Web Portal, vs. the ability to manage Shared Storage through Vcenter.

 

Again, any discussion regarding this topic would be greatly
appreciated. I would like to get as much information as possible before I make
the decision.

 

 

Quick info on my environment:

 

100 Users

Persistent Desktops

2 servers dedicated to VDI (Both 128GB RAM, 8 – 900GB SAS
drives, etc)

 

We currently have a NetApp SAN solution in place. Looking to
reduce if local storage is feasible.

McAfee Move 4.0 Agentless Solution Issues

Hello-

We are running Horizon View 5.2 with linked clones using the Wyse P25 endpoint solution.  For antivirus we have the McAfee Move 3.0 agentless solution deployed.  My problem is with the Move solution new log ins are taking around 1 minutes to 1 minute and 40 seconds.  If I shut off the MOVE appliances logs in complete in about 15 seconds.  Obviously a big time difference.  I have tried working with McAfee but they are useless.  Is anyone using MOVE with non persistent desktops and seeing better results?  I am tempted to move to Trend Micros Deep Security solution, but that will require a lot of work politically.

anyone have a good overview of some pros and cons for the major AVS providers that support VMware View 5.3?

Especially looking for a agentless solution without xtra features such and DPM, client-side firewalling etc.

 

How is Trend Micro Deep security compared to Symantec Endpoint ? Good experiences with other vendors?

Thinapps Un Assign themselves after a Recompose. Why?

I have a particular pool in the VIEW 5.1.2 environment that when I recompose will not install the same thinapps that were assigned to it prior to the recompose.  When I go to VIEW the thinapp is no longer assigned.  Another weird thing is that there may be other thinapps assigned to the same VM and they are still there and installed on the VM.  Any ideas?

Hello,

 

I was hoping to get some help with my issue, as of right now i am having an issue with one of my NIC's not being recognized GigaLAN Intel® I211AT i have used and installed the igb-4.2.16.8-1242301 but this seems to not work, I was hoping to find someone else that has the correct VIB/Offline ZIP so i can get this NIC to work.

 

Second i have a Nvidia Geforce 8400 GS 1gb video card with this server and ESXI 5.5 doesn't recognize this either, I was hoping that someone had a VIB/Offline ZIP that would work with this Video card, I'm not sure if this is not recognized because of it not having the drivers or because ESXI doesn't see my PCI slot its in. I am willing to work with someone on this issue even if it means creating my own VIB2ZIP package.

 

These are the last 2 things i need ESXI 5.5 to see and my server will be set.

I tried to set many domains in a Horizon View Server.

But I failed to configure this work.

Please good answer for me.

Sorry for Korean language.

Anyway, as you can see, I configured 2 domains (ABC, TEST) and connected in a Horizon View Server because they(ABC, TEST) configured two way Trust Domain between ABC and TEST domain.

 

2. Add Administrator Page

It can see only Test domain. I can't find ABC domain information.

 

3. Login Horizon View Server

Even I can't find any ABC domain information in this page.

 

How can I add ABC domain in this Horizon View Server ?

Problem with Solarwinds Dameware in View 5.3

Hello again gang!

 

I've recently updated and rebuilt all of our desktop pools under View 5.3.  Since then the product we used to use for logging into the remote desktops, Solarwinds Dameware, will not connect to the user desktop.  This was not an issue before.  The only other variable is that I also ran the View Windows 7/8 optimization .bat file processes on all of the new desktops.  Could there have been something in that process that would block remote control software like Dameware now?
