We are having an issue with the users logging in and setting up there profiles how they want but once they log out their Firefox settings (homepage, password saving, history and configurations are all wiped. The same issue is happening with Outlook. We are using Windows View client 5.0 running on Windows XP. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

I know with earlier version of View you have to use the locked.properties file to resolve this, but not with View 5.1.
Also a netstat -ano shows that the server is NOT listening on port: 443 obvisouly because of above.
Could someone point me in the right direction of getting it to correctly use the new SSL certificate and get my admin url back on-line!

"Already Used" Desktops - Solution

Snapshots and Linked-clone Automated Floating Pools
I am trying to understand the interaction between the original image and snapshot used to define the pool and the continuing pool operation itself.
For example; A snapshot is taken of an optimized Win7 image, call it the "Working" image. No further changes are made to the "Working" image. A linked-clone automated floating pool is created from this image and snapshot. In this instance, since we use roaming profiles and folder redirection its my understanding that no changes made to the desktops are retained on the VMs. Since it would seem that no changes are retained what would be stored in the snapshot, what purpose would the snapshot serve?
My organization is keeping keeping unoptimized images as Master images to install software changes and updates, then cloning them off to Working images. These Working images are used to create our pools. Can (should) one Working image and one snap shot be used to form multiple pools provided there is no difference between the software needs of the various pools? The purpose of provisioning multiple pools is to prevent a whole segment of the business from being without a computer should something become corrupt in one of the pools.

VoIP - which headsets to use with View 5.x?
We're starting to bring some of our softphone users over to our View environment, and I've found out that their Plantronics USB headsets just aren't compatible - they won't redirect to the VM at all. This is not a problem, as I want to replace them with analog headsets anyways. The question, though, is what are you using, out in the real world?
We're on Cisco IP Communicator 7.0 (we may update to 8.6, if we need to). The View VMs are Win7 SP1, nothing fancy there.
Cisco's hardware compatibility lists are not helpful. It really looks like any gaming headset that I could buy anywhere is cheaper than getting something specific for VoIP. I am specifically avoiding USB headsets - I feel like that's just one more channel to go wrong, but I could be convinced otherwise.
So, what are you fine folks using for headset hardware? Are there any that I should avoid outright? Any advice is appreciated.

Question about ThinPrint
Here is the setup. We would like to install the view agent on physical workstations, present the workstations using view, then have the users be able to print to their *home* printers from the work workstations.
I have tested and successfully printed with this setup when the agent is installed on VM's, but with no luck on the physical I dug around and found the KB article
that says that this is not an option.
My question is, is there any way to *make* it an option? There are a lot of higher ups that insist that this is a deal breaker for this system and I'd be very interested in whatever options are possible.

Reconnection.
Dear all,
Maybe this is already answered in another tread, but I can't find it then.
We have view 5.1, using a connection and secure connection server and connecting true PCOIP.
Due to the fact that we use Internet to connect to our environment (those lienes are not that stable) we get some drop-outs.
When you use RDP, you get a reconnection timeout from 20 retry's, is there a similar solution for the view client/environment?

How do I prevent Windows 7 VMs from Going to "Sleep"?
I am new at this whole VMWare thing so please forgive my ignorance. We in the process of deploying a number of virtual desktops using VMWare View via Dell FX-100 Zero Clients. After a few calls to VMWare support to get everything up and running, for the most part I am extremely satisfied. However, after 10 minutes of inactivity, the VMs go to "sleep", I've set Windows to "High Performance" mode and set everything to "Never", I've changed the OSD on the FX100 to "0 (disabled), nothing seems to work. Is this something that I am just going to have to deal with, or is there something I'm missing. The reason this is important is that once we go into full production, these machines are going to be used in a Public Safety 911 call center and need to remain up at all times. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

View 5.1 corrupt image when more than 1 snaphot
I have a View 5.1 test lab (one big ESX 5.1 with View 5.1). Everything works fine except when I try to create a linked clone pool with a master image that has more than one level of snapshots.. the result will automatically a Windows 7 link cloned that will not get nd of "provisioning" because Windows is corrupt. If I delete all snapshots and create one the pool will create juste fine. Various versions of view agents, vmware tools, esx patches have been tried. Even vanilla Windows 7 with 2 small snapshots will create the problem. 1 snapshot = ok.
Any ideas ?

Horizon View 5.2 linked clones corrupt redo logs
test lab. I have yet to succeed in creating a single working linked clone pool with 5.2 all my linked clones end up with a corrupt redo log on first reboot. I tried with a simple vanilla W7 image, . I tried to clone the master VM to start fresh ... no dice. 
Any help or info appreciated.

View client for chromebook
Is there a timeline for a view client with pcoip support for the chromebook (chromeos)? I know there is the HTML5 one from Ericom but it does not support pcoip and has separate licensing fees whereas I would assume vmware's client would be free like it is for all other platforms. There are articles out there saying vmware and citrix are both bringing their software to the chromebook but they're scarce on any details.

VM's stuck at Startup
Hi Everyone,
i just recently started facing this weird issue with my view deployment. it only affects about 40VM's which are all apart of 2 pools that use dedicated linked-clone VM's, running windows 7, set with no Refresh time. Also have the power off policy to be to off with 10 spares powered on.
i just built the pool last thursday and already users are having issues that when they log off after the first use, the VM wont spin back up for them. When i check the VDM i notice it says "Startup" and never goes away unless i manually power down the VM. Then the user can get in. what i also noticed was that when the user logged off, i opened the console to it, and it takes bout 30 minutes for the VM to log off 
Does anyone have any ideas what is causing the VM's to take so long to log off, as im sure it's affecting the view agent in some way where it cant be logged onto unless the VM is reset.

Upgrade of VMware Tools and reinstallation of agent
I am currently running View 5.1 and the tools have been upgraded on dedicated full VMs. I have read in the past, a reinstallation of the agent is needed. Is this still true today? If so, can somebody please give me some details on the issue and maybe some supporting documentation? It hasn't seemed to affect PCoIP connections from what I can tell.
If a reinstallation IS needed, would upgrading the agent to 5.2 before upgrading the connection servers cause issues?

View 4.6: Local Mode - Win7 activation issue
Hi,
I've got an issue with the MS Windows and MS Office activation on my composed local mode VMs.
Hardware:
Server: AMD based SUN Server
Client: Intel based Toshiba Notebooks (Win7 + View Client 4.6 with local mode)
Server:
ESX 4.1 U1 + vCenter
View 4.6 + Composer + Connection + Transfer
VM (v7):
-Linked Clone + Local Mode
-Win 7 Enterprise (KMS)
-Office 2010 Standard (KMS)
The problem:
Every time i check the VM in or out my Windows 7 and Office 2010 wants to be reactivatet.
The problem is, that in this case, every time a user makes a Checkout he has to start the VM in local mode on his notebook again in the company just to reactivate Win and Office (per script because: auto activation win7 after 3 days). So is there a way/best practice to activate the VM for both, the server and the Client without a reactivation every time?
Also testet with Intel Xenon Server and Intel Core 2 Duo Notebook -> same issue with reactivation every checkin/out.
Any help would be appreciated.

View 4.5 Event Database - Red Error
Hi
I have a couple of View 4.5 connection brokers which randomly gives a "red failed arrow" on the system service Event Database. When I expand the Event Database on the Dashboard and click on the database server, the Event Database Details - Status contains no info. On a connection broker with no error the status of the Event Database says "No problem detected".
All events are being tracked to the database and I can't see practical problems except the red arrow on the Dashboard.
If I clear the event configuration and add the same database back, everything is ok for a while.
My databases are running on MS SQL 2008, and i can find no errors/warings on the database servers.
Anyone who has seen anything similar ?

VMware View Persona Quick Launch Toolbar not 'sticking' on XP Clones
We have a VMware View 5.1.2 build-928164 install with a floating POOL using View Persona. We have setup several other View installs with floating pools, but all with Windows 7, this is the first one running Windows XP.
As there does not appear to be a specific Windows XP script to apply to the MASTER, we just edited the Windows 7 one and applied it to the XP-MASTER. i.e. Set VSS to Auto, User Hive Clean-Up Service installed etc.
After performing a roll-out to the linked-clones the users cannot customise thier quick launch toolbar icons. Well, they can, however as soon as they shut down and logon (different VM from floating pool) the icons from the quick launch disapear.
Although, when attempting to turn the quick launch toolbar back on - it is already 'ticked', just not displaying.
Simply, unlicking the quick launch toolbar, and then re-clicking it, turns the toolbar back on and the user defined shortcut items appear.
This is a bit of a hassle for the end users to perforem every day, and there is obviously something wrong somewhere.
All of the other Persona aspects function corectly. i.e. Desktop icons sync between floating pool VM's.
Any suggestings would be most appriciated.
