There are 2 OU's. In the OU with issue the virtual machines have Windows event log service(Disabled state) and the Horizon agent state(stopped state) are stopped. They can only be started by logging into the machines manually. In a test OU deployed with only default domain policies the machines have the Windows eventlog service in started state bu the Horizon Agent service is in stopped state. This can be rectified by either restarting the machines manually or through the Horizon UI. After being available state on the UI the vms with issue tend to be unstable with the availability status. Both machines(Machines with and without issue) are in agent unreachable status in the Horizon admin UI. Any solutions or known issues with 7.2 version.

The VMware Horizon Client for Linux version 4.9.0 fails to start with the following error on my machine:

The missing symbol is:

My machine is running Fedora 28 and the glibmm library does provide the Glib::ustring::begin() symbol, but only through C++11 ABI:

We're currently migrating from Teradici console to using Dell Wyse Management. We have 50~ kiosk-style machines (more like dashboards) that we need to do the following:

1. Auto-login using a specified account - DONE

2. Choose a specific pool  - PROBLEMOS!

Currently the user account (despite being permissioned for 2 pools - the 'default' global pool and the DASHBOARD pool, it always defaults to the global pool.

In Teradici it's very easy to configure an auto-logon profile - you enter the username, password, domain and the pool name to select. In Dell, you cannot specify a pool-name. So our dashboard PC's are logging into our 'generic' desktop pool. They are all connecting via the same connection server.

Please note, we really don't want to have to setup mac address auto-logins via the connection server (as you would with a kiosk) -I know this is possible, we just want the devices to auto-login and go to a specific pool of non-persistent machines.  For information, We have entitled the pools via global entitlements (not entitlements on the specific pools within view manager).

Any ideas how we achieve this in Dell Console or otherwise?

The, VMware OS Optimization Tool has not been updated since July 30,2018.

The operating systems supported by Horizon are not yet supported by the tool such as for example Windows Server 2019

The documentation recommends using the tool but if it is not updated how can operating systems be optimized in a Horizon environment?

Do you know if is there any information about future tool updates? or  if is there any alternative tool used successfully in the Horizon environment?

Currently, we have a case where we are trying to create VDI VMs that do not lock in order to keep a software program running at all times.  I have disabled the lock screen with a Windows policy, so that if I'm logged on to the console of the VM it never locks.   However, when logging in to the VM with the Horizon Client, the screen locks when the user disconnects, even though I can see the program that the user had running on the console..  How can this be changed?  I have been trying to find out but so far no luck.

Any help on this would be appreciated.  Thank you!!

I had deployed the view 7.7 connection server for several times, however, this issue can't be solved.

everytime when i login to the connection server webpage using administrator credential, the session quickly timed out within a few seconds or a few minutes no matter which browser i use.

I did extend the session timeout time to 300 minutes and enabled auto update in the "global settings"(as shown below) but the session still timed out within a few seconds(or a few minutes) after login.

this is weird and I couldn't find solution on KB.

is this problem due to active directory? does anyone have this trouble?

I am working with a linked clone pool that currently has a large number of snapshots. We want to keep the number of snaps as small as possible. What I want to know is what makes sense for managing snapshots on LC pools? We want to keep the snaps to a minimum, but not end up deleting a needed snap. How to entitle non domain user to VDI.

Dear All,

Today I upgraded my View environment from View 6.02 to View 6.2. The upgrade went fine without any problem. I had to upgrade View Composer, a connection server and a security server.

However I have issues with the View Administrator console.

When I log in I receive this error

com.vmware.vim.vmomi.client.common.UnexpectedStatusCodeException: Unexpected status code: 404

However I can refresh the page and View logs me in. All appears to be working, but before the upgrade I disabled my pools. I wanted to re-enable it, but I'm getting this error.

java.lang.IllegalStateException: View API connection not initialized

There are some settings in the View Administrator console I can change. There is no error in the event viewer on the connection server.

Do you have any idea what the problem is? It seems like a Java issue. With View 6.02 I have had no issue with the View Administrator console.

We recently started looking at Windows 10 1709 since Horizon 7.4 has support for it (and other versions as well).   However, when recomposing any pool, it gets stuck on the "customizing" step for the desktops in the pool.  We are using a customization specification (sysprep) because we prefer this method over quickprep.  This has worked fine with Windows 10 1607.  When I check, the desktops are stuck at the Windows logon screen and will sit there indefinitely.  In the events log, it shows entries like this:

Provisioning error occurred for Machine win101709002: Customization operation timed out

Automatic error recovery for Pool win101709: attempting to restart Machine win101709002

Are there still problems with 1709?  Anybody been able to get it to work?  We are pretty plain here with our setup, nothing really special going on but just can't seem to get this working.

We have a number of apps published and now We cannot access any of the apps from the HTML access.  we can get to them from the View client but nothing from the HTML Access.  I don't believe anything has changed in the system with the exception of a maybe a windows update or two.  Not sure about that one.  Any thoughts??

We have a few hundred persistent full VMs in our Horizon View environment.  These are updated via SCCM as they are full persistent VMs.  Occasionally a few of them will get their updates, restart and then go agent unreachable.  The only way to get them back is to remove them from the desktop pool and re-add them to the pool then shut them down and let Horizon View configure them and then start them up.  Does anyone have any idea why this would happen?  Horizon View 7.8

Does anybody know if such a thing exists and if so what it is please as I am needing to write PowerShell code to use its SOAP interface as I can't guarantee that PowerCLI (or the HV.Helper module) will be available for the code I'm writing.

I've tried various like https://viewserverFQDN/view-vlsi/sdk?wsdl but with zero success.

I have a very strange issue in that the VMware Truesso enrolment service is unable to connect to the issuing CA service even though they are on the same server instance. I am trying to setup the enrolment service to talk to a Horizon cloud platform; however the enrolment service isn't able to talk to the certificate service even though it has specific permissions to do so in the CA server configuration. From digging through all the logs the only thing of any relevance that appears within: "C:\ProgramData\VMware\VDM\logs"

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I need to stand this service up urgently; I have also been in contact with VMware support however they don't seem to understand why this isn't working either?

I am attempting to deploy a group of Chromebooks that will automatically launch a Horizon desktop without needing the user to authenticate for a classroom scenario. I am managing the Chromebooks centrally via Google admin and I have successfully configured the Horizon Client to launch from Kiosk mode with a JSON file that provides connection server settings. My connection server has been configured to authenticate on MAC addresses and the automatic login functionality was successfully tested with a WYSE thin client.

I cannot replicate this with automatic connection with the Chromebook. The client will launch, and select the default connection server, but the client will not authenticate without entering a credential. I suspect that am missing a configuration setting in the JSON file that will trigger the client to authenticate via the machine's MAC. I've attempted several variations of the JSON file similar to the one below (sourced from https://chrome-experts.neverware.com/s/article/Deploying-Configuring-VMware-Horizon-View-in-Kiosk-mode-using-Google-Admi… ) with no success. Can anyone provide any insight?

I have an automated floating desktop pool of linked clones setup.  The VMs all provision correctly.  Horizon 7.9.

When I domain join the master image and spin off the desktops, none of the desktops can access the domain and the machine states all stay at "customizing".  It takes a long time, but I can eventually login with my domain credentials, but Horizon is stuck on the "customizing" state.

If I do not domain join the master image, the desktops all generate and horizon eventually connects to them (temporarily), but none of the domain credentials work.  If I login as the local administrator, the network is effectively dead.  I cannot ping out or contact any other computer.

The account loaded into Horizon to add/remove computers from the domain is the same account that joined the servers running the infrastructure (SQL server, Composer, Connection server).

I have VMware Horizon view 7.3 environment and we deployed some windows desktop and server OS collections.

From my thin client i have installed windows 10 IOT entperise 2016 edition on top of that installed vmware horizon view client to access the horizon view collections.

After taking the VM session using client and plug and play webcam to test using online website for webcam . Opened the online webcam test site using google chrome and then  we have faced an issues with blue screen error, system restarted with below error.

BSOD: blue screen error DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL caused by vmusb.sys

Can some help why this issue caused . Is it because of vmware client or windows or any other issue.

i am practicing the lab with our physical servers, i logged it through the connection server IP address in web browser. it shows (above image) and not responding!
