vCenter temporarily disabled/enabled

$

In VMWare Horizon View Administrator we are currently seeing events being logged continuously relating to vCenter at address being temporarily disabled and almost immediately afterward vCenter at address is enabled.

vCenter at address
${VCAddress} has been temporarily disabled

vCenter at address
${VCAddress} has been enabled

I can find little about these events other than they exist from the documentation library. Are they related to an account problem? If anyone can advise.

Many Thanks

The application is missing on all RDS hosts

Created a cloned composer farm.  Server 2016.  Added 3 applications on Pool.  Showing as red exclamation with Unavailable.  More information shows as : The application is missing on all RDS hosts.

2 are Meditech and 1 is a url to an web based application.  Log onto client and icons show as generic and applications do open.   Is there a work around for these types of Manual add-ons without displaying as an error?

file extensions:

.mtad

web app .url

Thanks for any solutions.

Horizon View 7.1 Logon Monitor

Is it possible to disable this from running at logon?  It adds too long of a delay at logon.  I've tried to simply disable the service but it still runs and I can't find where it's spawning from.  Tks.

Intermittent Persona Syncing Issues

Hello!

I would really appreciate if someone could help with the following issue.

We have had an intermittent issue with persona profiles syncing over the last 2 weeks.

When User login in system, View PM creates a temporary user profile.  In Windows Logs error «profile is corrupted».If I create a new profile, the error also appears.

Folder settings were performed according to VMware documentation (http://pubs.vmware.com/horizon-7-view/topic/com.vmware.horizon-view.desktops.doc/GUID-8DA2B3DC-028F-4A0A-9AB0-DCABE72B802C.html)

UPD 0:

I check tree "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList", and delete my profile wit .bak extension, after that I try re-logon in system and profile successful downloaded.

But I not understand, why in this bak profile "profile image path" store on C, although persistent disk have letter D:

Cloud Pod Architecture

I have one site:

1 vcenter

1 connection server

3 hosts

If I will create another site to form a cloud pod architecture,:

1. does my connection server in my 2nd site should be connected to my vcenter in site 1 or should be a new vcenter server?

2. Can I do a cloud pod architecture in with all sites are in 1 domain and in the same layer 2 ip range and subnet?

3. related to question 1, if connection server in site 2 will be connected to vcenter in site 1, can i also manage the hosts in site 2 using vcenter in site 1 but in a different cluster?

4. site 1 will have 50 rds license for 50 users, in case site 1 goes down. can site 2 be able to handle the 50 users? does it mean that i have to license the rds hosts in site 2 for additional 50 to make it a total of 100 rds licenses? how can i sync my rds hosts in site 1 to site 2?

thanks!

users that will be accessing the application pools within a domain should be joined first in the vCenter server?

Or the domain can only be added to the connection servers regardless of the vCenter server domain?

Can't detach persistent disk

I have just been mucking about with persistent disks in view 4.5 and have got into a bit of a pickle!

I was attempting to simulate a rebuild of a desktop so detached the users persistent disk and then clicked the recreate desktop option in detached disks. This operation failed with a cloning error "Provisioning error occurred for Machine DLC-XP-3: Cloning failed for Machine"

Even though the task failed the unattached disk is now showing under the attached tab. When trying to detach it I get the following error:

You cannot remove the primary data disk until all the secondary disks have been detached from the VM

I'm now stuck with this entry in the attached tab, there is no VM for it as it failed to create it. Looks like I need to flush this out from the database somehow or possibly look into a command line option.

Has anyone experienced this before? I have attached a screenshot to help explain it better.

off to research command line options

replace horizon security server ssl

I am in a situation of taking over a pre-installed Horizon View environment. I have rebuilt the RDS hosts, replaced all SSL certs for the Connection servers with a newly updated Godaddy public cert and all that is left is the virtual security server running on the same instance as the public connection host used for the SSL acceptance traffic. I am struggling on the Security server portion, I have the SSL bound to the correct certificate store, named VDM, etc., this all works perfectly, I only need a guide to replace the actual security cert. We are running Horizon View 6.1.1 with MS RDS hosts using PCoIP and View to access the farms.

CTRL-ALT-DEL appears some times on View 4.5 Desktop

Most of the time, when our users go into a pool using either the View client or a Zero client device, when they connect to the pool they are automatically logged in and get to the desktop. Occasionally, not very often and with no consistency I can detect, the login process will instead show the user the standard Windows 7 CTRL-ALT-DEL screen.  Once they do CAD, they are logged on automatically with no other input required from them. Mostly everything works OK.  I have seen at least once instance where the user had to hit CAD and while they got to the desktop OK, the Thin Print GPO failed to run and failed to map their printer to the zero client device. Logging out and back in again, the user this time was NOT prompted for CAD and logged in normally and the GPO did it's thing as well. I see the same thing happen in my lab concerning the CAD.  I have a small three desktop pool in my lab and at least once a day in my testing I'll have to do CAD and then the next time will not. In both lab and production I have the pools set to log the user out immediately and to refresh the desktop.  Any thoughts?

Agent Unreachable After User Attempt to Connect Fails

$

We have Horizon View 7.1, and are using Windows 7 VMs, and are having issues with some of the agents going agent unreachable.  Basically what happens is occasionally a user will try to log in and the desktop will launch but the screen will be black for about 15 seconds and then the session will just close.  The user then typically tries to relaunch the desktop which then fails with an error that they are already connected to a session.  On the View administration side the desktop will actually show as the user is connected, but they obviously aren't.  Then after about 5-10 minutes the desktop will go agent unreachable.  If we restart the View Agent and the VMware Blast service on the desktop typically it will come back and the user could reconnect to it.

Anyone have any ideas as to what might cause this?  We have a ticket open with VMware for about a month now, but haven't really gotten anywhere on it so I'm hoping someone has some ideas.

VMware view connection servers slow

HI All,

We’ve observed inconsistency in data in view horizon console from the connection server USVMwareview1.

The link https://vmware view1/admin takes a lot of time to load and refresh data after logging in.

The data on connecting to horizon console from rest of the connection servers is consistent and loading and refreshing of data is also normal on them.

VMware View version 5.2

Any help on this issues much appreciated

We are trial running App Volumes / Instant clones.  Is it possible to setup multiple pools with different memory / # of cores per pool based off the same image / snapshot, or do we need to have a new image per pool?

user unable to login, "display protocol for this desktop is not available"

$

I'm starting to get reports of this more and more in my view environment. Users are logging in from Wyse P20 zero clients. The error message the end user receives is "display protocol for this desktop is unavailable" however, via view manager the desktop does not report as being unavailable. The state of the desktop is usually "disconnected."

If I take a look at the events for the desktop this is what I see:

Unable to launch from Pool Partners for user domain\user: There were no machines available that reported protocol [PCOIP] as ready.

Any insight would be appreciated as this is really starting to frustrate my users.

Thanks in advance!

Horizon View 6 - Persona Management - Folder Redirection and Roaming & Synchronization

I'm having a quirky issue with the PMView.  This is what I see:

- Log as test user with Horizon View client (1st time)

- View Desktop loads Windows, and shows desktop (30-45 seconds)

(During this step, I see the profile and redirected folders are created correctly)

- Log off test user

- Log back in with the same test user (2nd time)

- View Desktop loads Windows, shows the "Welcome" screen, and then a black screen.

(During this step, I see the profile repository get "recreated" (i.e., the folders/files get deleted, and then recreated...))

- After 1-2 minutes later, the desktop shows up

This seems like an odd behavior to me, and it's probably related to how I've created my PMview.

This is what I have:

Persona Management Issue - Slow Logon

$

I have a View 5.0 POC lab setup. I have enabled and configured Persona management as instructed in the admin guide (http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/view/VMware-View-Persona-Management-Deployment-Guide.pdf). The first time a user logs into a virtual desktop from a floating pool and logs off, the persona profile is created on the network share as is it is supposed to. The next time and everytime afterwards the same user logs into a desktop from that same pool, it take 4 minutes for the desktop to show and then more often than not, explorer.exe has stopped responding. I turn off persona management, reboot the desktops and the user logs in every time normally. What am I missing?

I have a seperate pool with a seperate set of test users configured to use Windows Roaming Profiles only and it works like a champ.

Also, it does not appear that Folder Redirection will not work unless you specified that the roaming profile location is set in the "Persona Repository Location" gpo setting. Is that correct?

Thanks

Henry

Hi guys,

We recently upgraded our view agents to 7.1 and some of our clients are receiving this error upon logon:

Was wondering if any of you have come across the same error?

Thanks,

Travis
